We are using ezPaycheck 2014 payroll software now. Good software. We like it. However, we found a problem today. We have an employee. His gross pay is $15000. The new check shows the Medicare tax as $352.5. It was $217.5 before. We did not change his setup. Is it something wrong? Should the rate be 1.45%?

Thank you for using ezPaycheck payroll software.

The Medicare tax for 2014 is 1.45% for employee and employer. Additional 0.9% for the part in excess of $200,000 in a calendar year. Employee only.

You can check the YTD data on his paycheck stubs. I guess his YTD gross income is over $200,000 now. He also needs to pay the 0.9% additional tax.
