Would you check to see if your Mo tax withholding tables are correct in your software.
One of the employees that I prepare a paycheck for made about $23,646 in 2016 and claims Married & Zero.
Yet there was only $462 withheld. This seems really low.
Please advise.

Please give us more details and we are glad to assist you.

Here are the details, but since I wrote my email to you, I looked at the MO tax table on the internet for bi-weekly and you have to earn a lot of money before any withholding takes place, even with Married & Zero.

2017 version
Bi-weekly pay period
No pretax deductions
$23,646 annual for one person paid bi-weekly.  She is married and has 2 dependents.  Her withholding is based on Married & Zero.
Yes to both state and Federal withholding  (Married & Zero).

Please check your setup, but I'm sure after looking at the MO bi-weekly tax table, that it doesn't require much tax to be withheld.  I have spoken to her and asked her to tell me how much additional she wants me to withhold and assuming your programming is correct, that extra withholding will solve the problem going forward.
I'm sorry if I have wasted your time.

I set up ezPaycheck payroll software based on your data and the state tax is $13 for each paycheck. I also calculate it manually and list the steps below.

MO State tax table
http://www.halfpricesoft...axrate-missouri-2017.asp

2017 version
Bi-weekly pay period
No pretax deductions
$23,646 annual for one person paid bi-weekly. She is married and has 2 dependents. Her withholding is based on Married & Zero.
Yes to both state and Federal withholding (Married & Zero).

Calculate state tax manually

1. Gross income: $23646

2. standard deduction: Married (One Spouse Working) $12700

3. Exemption: $0 for 0 allowance

4. Biweekly fed tax 57.65
Annual fed tax: 57.65*27= $1556.55

5. taxable income:

23646-12700-1556.55=$9389.45

6. state taxes for one year

315+(9389.45-9072)*6%=$334.047

7. State tax for each paycheck 334.047/26=12.85
round to $13

Please let me know if you still have any questions.

Thank you.
